Budget and Spending

As a fiscal conservative, I am deeply troubled by our nation’s ever growing debt burden. Washington should respect hardworking taxpayers and balance its budget just like the State of Oklahoma does. We must remember that debt today becomes tomorrow’s taxes. For the sake of our children and grandchildren we urgently need to bring fiscal restraint back to Washington. During my time in Congress, I will support efforts to bring greater transparency to federal spending and to root out waste, fraud, and abuse.
More on Budget and Spending
Members of Congress are being called back to Washington this week to vote on raising the debt ceiling. As a fiscal conservative, I will be voting against this proposal, yet again, because I am firmly opposed to this administration’s management of taxpayer dollars.
Last week the House unfortunately passed the reckless budget reconciliation bill, also known as the Build Back Better Act. I voted against this legislation because I am deeply concerned about the bill’s price tag, especially considering the crippling inflation crisis our country is currently facing, as well as the national debt of nearly $30 trillion. It is the most expensive bill and largest tax increase in American history and could bankrupt our economy by further fueling inflation, the labor shortage, and the national debt.
After many weeks of partisan debate, legislation to increase the debt ceiling passed the Senate last week, resulting in House members being called back to Washington to vote on this renegotiated bill. I voted against the first version of the debt ceiling increase, and I will again be voting no because I firmly oppose this administration’s reckless, virtually unlimited, spending.
As a fiscal conservative, I support low taxes, minimal government debt, and reduced government spending, which is why I am against the Democrats’ $1.2 trillion infrastructure package. This week, House Democrats are attempting to bulldoze through the largest spending and tax increase legislation in our country’s history. The infrastructure bill is directly linked with the outrageous $3.4 trillion tax and spend budget reconciliation bill, a $5.5 trillion package that will further skyrocket inflation, increase taxes, and compromise competition in American business.
