Bice Opposes $1.9 Trillion Partisan Spending Package

February 27, 2021

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Stephanie Bice released the following statement regarding the passage of H.R.1319:

“Today the House passed H.R. 1319, adding nearly $2 trillion to our national debt, with little to no consultation or collaboration from Republicans. Last year, Congress successfully passed five bipartisan COVID relief measures, with input from both Republicans and Democrats. What was passed here today was strictly a partisan bill, filled with the wish lists of Democrats, providing a broad range of benefits with no regard for the actual level of need of those on the receiving end of funding.

Only 9% of the dollars in this bill will actually go toward combatting the COVD-19 pandemic. This comes at a time when nearly one-third of the Coronavirus Relief Fund (CRF) dollars from last year remain unspent and as COVID-19 cases continue a steep decline following the onset of vaccine distribution efforts.

This bill is nothing more than Democrats advancing their partisan agenda, including increasing the minimum wage to $15, which would kill nearly 1.4 million jobs at a time when we should be focused on economic recovery.”
