Washington, D.C. – Early this morning, after more than 16 hours of debate and mark-up, the House Armed Services Committee passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) by a vote of 57-1. The NDAA is the single most critical piece of legislation that comes out of the Armed Services Committee. It funds our nation’s military forces and increases our strategic competitiveness versus our near-peer adversaries.

Last week, I had the opportunity to visit McAllen, Texas with the Select Committee on the Economy. While the Democrats on this committee planned the trip to have a field hearing on infrastructure and climate issues along the border, I took the opportunity to again witness firsthand the disastrous effects of President Biden’s open border policies. While infrastructure is important, we cannot simply ignore the impacts the immigration crisis has on our southern border communities.

The NDAA is the single most important piece of legislation that comes out of the Armed Services Committee each year. After a year of overreaching subpoenas and dramatized hearings, the next show trial event from the January 6 Select Committee will take place Thursday, during prime time. This further proves that this biased committee does not intend to investigate what occurred on Jan. 6, but instead weaponize the government for their own political gain.
