A main priority of House Republicans in the majority is to conduct rigorous oversight to hold the Biden Administration and the federal government accountable to the American people. Although we have introduced critical legislation to get our nation back on track, with a Democrat-controlled Senate and White House, it will be difficult for some of these bills to become law.

Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Stephanie Bice (R-OK) introduced the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Mineral Spacing Act this week. The bill would streamline and improve the permitting process for energy development, remove duplicative regulations, and better respect the rights of private mineral holders. A companion bill was reintroduced in the Senate by Senator John Hoeven (R-N.D.).

It’s been heartbreaking to witness the devastating situation in East Palestine, Ohio and the surrounding communities. Not only has the train derailment of toxic waste caused an environmental catastrophe, killing animals and destroying infrastructure, but the effects on residents’ long-term health is deeply concerning. This disaster has not received the attention and response it deserves, especially from the Biden Administration. Sadly, it’s the people of Ohio who are facing the consequences of the President’s inaction.

China poses one of the most serious national security threats our country has faced in decades. Since President Xi took control, he has bolstered their military by tripling their defense spending. They now control the largest army and navy in the world and have doubled their nuclear warheads in only two years. The Chinese Communist Party is starting to outpace us on new battlefields including in space and with hypersonic technology, advances in AI, and quantum computing. This progress is not for self-defense.

Despite the rosy picture President Biden paints this week in his state of the union address, he cannot deflect blame and ignore the numerous concerns that are facing our nation. The reality is the state of the union is weaker and families are struggling because of Biden’s far-left policies. A recent NBC poll found that 71% of Americans believe our country is on the wrong track, clearly indicating that the leader of our nation is out of touch with the true needs of the American people.
