Bice Votes for NDAA
Washington, D.C. - Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the FY 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). This legislation includes the largest pay raise for our military in 30 years. Furthermore, it provides our military with the resources they need to defend our nation and counter threats across the globe.
Congresswoman Bice issued the following statement:
“I was proud to support this year’s National Defense Authorization Act. The NDAA allows our military to keep pace with growing threats across the globe, especially from China. Critically, this legislation builds a stronger and more capable missile defense, rejects the Administration’s efforts to reduce the size of the Navy, protects U.S. military bases, critical infrastructure, and academic research from Chinese encroachment and espionage, and much more. Furthermore, this legislation works to halt the politicization of the military, allowing us to focus on being a more lethal and effective fighting force. It also creates a new Special Inspector General to oversee all aid to Ukraine.”
“I was also pleased to see that my legislation, the Disrupt Fentanyl Trafficking Act was included as an amendment to the NDAA. This legislation will further empower the Department of Defense to take steps to halt cartel trafficking and the national security threat that this has created at our southern border. In 2020, we lost 136 Oklahomans due to overdose deaths from fentanyl – a nearly 152 percent increase from the previous year. This dangerous drug has found its way into our communities, and I am committed to stopping this self-inflicted crisis.”
