Bice Secures 23 Amendments in FY23 National Defense Authorization Act
Washington, D.C. – Early this morning, after more than 16 hours of debate and mark-up, the House Armed Services Committee passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) by a vote of 57-1. The NDAA is the single most critical piece of legislation that comes out of the Armed Services Committee. It funds our nation’s military forces and increases our strategic competitiveness versus our near-peer adversaries.
Congresswoman Bice was successful in including many provisions in the base text of the NDAA, including $30 million for Tinker’s B-21 Depot Maintenance Campus. Congresswoman Bice also effectively added 23 amendments to this legislation. These amendments include a report on how rising energy prices are impacting the Department of Defense, a study on safeguarding supply chain vulnerabilities, and protecting the E-3 wing at Tinker AFB.
“I am pleased that the House Armed Services Committee passed a strong and bipartisan National Defense Authorization Act which not only fully funds our military but seeks to maintain our competitive advantage over our near-peer adversaries, including Russia and China," Congresswoman Bice said. "This year’s NDAA prioritizes Oklahoma’s Fifth Congressional District and includes $30 million for Tinker’s B-21 Depot Maintenance Campus. With increasing aggression abroad, we must reduce gaps in combat capabilities. To that end, I am relieved that this legislation seeks to limit the divestment of E-3 aircraft at Tinker AFB. Safeguarding our nation is a top priority of mine, and I am honored to work on such a critical piece of legislation.”
“Rep. Stephanie Bice is a strong advocate for Oklahoma’s defense priorities,” Ranking Member Mike Rogers (R-AL) said. “Under Rep. Bice’s leadership on the House Armed Services Committee, the FY23 NDAA ensures that our warfighters have the tools they need to keep our nation safe.
