An Economy that’s Strong

The American Dream is rooted in the belief that hard work leads to a secure and fulfilling life, a vision shared by people both within our borders and around the world. Yet, significant challenges have arisen as Republicans are currently tasked with addressing the economic repercussions of policies enacted by the Biden administration. The burden of increased regulations, higher taxes, and a growing deficit is taking a toll on everyday Americans and their economic well-being. My GOP colleagues and I are acutely aware of this problem and are committed to countering these adverse effects. Our mission is to alleviate the strain on hardworking Americans' paychecks, and we are steadfast in our efforts to bring relief.

As we head into the back-to-school season, many families across our nation are feeling the pinch of a struggling economy. For parents, this time of year, typically marked by excitement and anticipation, has been overshadowed by financial worries. Americans are spending over $13,000 more annually compared to three years ago to afford their basic needs because of inflation. Many families are finding that their hard-earned dollars just don’t stretch as far as they have in previous years. Instead of being able to put money into savings or invest in new supplies for their children, they are paying for this Administration’s disregard for reality. Since January 2021, Bidenflation has cost the average Oklahoman household to spend $21,316 or $826 more a month. The high cost of living combined with stagnant wages has made it increasingly difficult for many to keep up with the rising costs of education and everyday life.

That’s why my Republican colleagues and I are fighting to bring back the economy that was not suppressed by high taxes and burdensome regulations. This commitment is reflected in my introduction of the Combatting High Inflation Limiting Daycare (CHILD) Act, legislation designed to address the urgent issue of childcare affordability. By increasing the annual contribution limit for tax-advantaged Dependent Care Flexible Savings Accounts (DCFSAs), the CHILD Act aims to provide significant relief to families struggling with the escalating costs of childcare. My goal is to ensure that families have access to the resources they need to support their children without facing financial strain, and this legislation is just one example of our resolve.

As we look ahead, I remain focused on implementing practical solutions that will make a real difference for Oklahomans and all Americans. The path forward requires dedication, collaboration, and a commitment to the principles that have always defined the American Dream.
