Combating the Chinese Communist Party

China poses one of the most serious national security threats our country has faced in decades. Since President Xi took control, he has bolstered their military by tripling their defense spending. They now control the largest army and navy in the world and have doubled their nuclear warheads in only two years. The Chinese Communist Party is starting to outpace us on new battlefields including in space and with hypersonic technology, advances in AI, and quantum computing. This progress is not for self-defense. They are seeking to intimidate and threaten the U.S. and our allies.

As Americans recently saw, the Biden Administration allowed a CCP surveillance balloon to traverse across the United States, including over some of our country’s most sensitive military sites. This balloon was not only a violation of Americans’ privacy, but it was a direct threat to our national security. Make no mistake, this balloon was not for research as the CCP claimed. It was an intentional act to exert force, and unfortunately Biden responded with weakness. The balloon should have never been allowed to enter U.S. airspace and it should have been shot down over the Pacific Ocean, not the Atlantic. Furthermore, The Biden Administration should have been forthcoming with this information. It’s critical that the Administration take further Chinese aggression seriously. China has proved it is willing to test our limits, and our leaders must protect the sovereignty of our country whether land, air, sea, or space.

Even more alarming is the fact that these events have continued. The United States military has confirmed the takedown of more unidentified objects hovering over North America. Last week, President Biden held a press conference regarding these balloons, but it left Americans with no answers, just questions. He said these new balloons were, “likely tied to private companies, recreation, or research institutions studying weather or conducting other scientific research.” Why would he allow a Chinese spy balloon to travel across the entire nation but immediately shoot down balloons which he claimed could be simply for recreational purposes? Decisions like these cause confusion, resulting in a lack of trust in our Commander in Chief.

The American people deserve to know that their country is safe from foreign threats, and we should have faith in our leaders. Since taking office, Biden has had countless foreign policy fiascos, including the botched withdrawal of Afghanistan. Our adversaries are watching how we respond, and we can no longer afford to show weakness on the global stage. It is imperative that the United States act to strengthen our capabilities and counter increased aggression. We cannot underestimate threats from the CCP, and we must hold China accountable for their actions.
