ICYMI: Back to Work

October 30, 2023

Washington, D.C. – Last week, after the election of Rep. Mike Johnson as Speaker, the House voted on multiple pieces of legislation that were supported by Congresswoman Bice. The first was H.Res. 771, which asserts Israel’s right to defend itself, condemns Hamas, and calls for the release of seized hostages. The second bill was H.R. 4934, the Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act. This bill funds the Department of Energy, Army Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Reclamation, and other related agencies.

Congresswoman Bice issued the following statement:

“The House is finally back to work. Our first piece of legislation since electing Speaker Johnson was to condemn the horrifying actions of Hamas terrorists throughout Israel. Israel has an absolute right to defend itself, and it is important that the United States, Congress, and the White House continue their unwavering support for our greatest ally in the Middle East. The second piece of legislation, the Energy and Water Subcommittee Appropriations bill, continues our work to fund the government in a fiscally responsible manner. We must continue to prioritize programs that promote funding for agencies and programs that bolster our national security, energy security, and economic competitiveness. Under the leadership of House Republicans, the House is seeking to reduce spending and get our country back on track."
