Bice Votes to Prevent a Government Shutdown and Support the Administration
Washington, D.C.- Today, Congresswoman Bice supported H.R. 1968, the Full-Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, which funds the federal government through September 30, 2025. This legislation is a clean continuing resolution (CR) which prevents a government shutdown and supports our troops, veterans, and CBP agents. The CR includes additional funding for our veterans’ healthcare and benefits, provides pay raises for junior enlisted servicemembers, and increases funding for air traffic control priorities. It also provides needed flexibility for the Department of Defense so they can meet current priorities and respond to emerging threats. Contrary to false reports, the legislation does not cut toxic exposure funds for veterans or eliminate COPS grants or WIC funding.
Congresswoman Bice issued the following statement:
“While I would have preferred to negotiate new appropriations bills rather than a CR, a shutdown would be an unnecessary distraction that would hamper the abilities of Congress and the Trump Administration. This bill will freeze spending levels and help support the administration as they work to secure the border, safeguard our nation, and root out waste and fraud. The Senate should immediately take up this legislation so we can avoid the harmful effects of a government shutdown.”
