Bice Supports National Defense Authorization Act
Washington, D.C.-Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Fiscal Year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
Congresswoman Bice issued the following statement after voting in support of the NDAA:
“In an increasingly unsafe world, this year’s National Defense Authorization Act, is critical in safeguarding our nation. While this bill was not perfect, I could note vote against legislation which is critical in supporting our national defense. When it comes to Sec. 702 of FISA, I agree that critical reforms are needed to ensure that we are protecting the privacy of American citizens. However, this legislation includes a 5.2% pay raise for our servicemembers, the largest in 20 years as well as a Parents’ Bill of Rights at DoD schools, and protections against teaching, training, or promotion of CRT in the military. Also included are measures to strengthen our readiness and lethality so that we can counter adversarial threats in the Indo-Pacific.”
“Importantly, this year’s NDAA also includes provisions to halt the fentanyl epidemic. My bill, the Disrupt Fentanyl Trafficking Act, which was included in the NDAA, will empower the Department of Defense to take steps to halt cartel trafficking. Fentanyl is killing countless Americans, and we must move swiftly to halt this crisis and safeguard our communities.”
Several Oklahoma-specific NDAA provisions include:
- $58 million for Tinker Air Force Base’s 3-Bay KC-46 Depot Maintenance Hangar
- $5.8 million for Tinker’s F-35 Aircraft Oxygen Shop
- $1.8 million for the Shawnee National Guard Readiness Center
