Energy Workforce & Technology Council: Member Kimray Hosts Rep. Stephanie Bice for Tour, Townhall

June 9, 2021

Rep. Stephanie Bice (R-OK-5) saw a firsthand example of the energy technology and service sector’s innovative manufacturing technology during a visit of Kimray headquarters in Oklahoma City organized by the Energy Workforce & Technology Council. During the event, Bice heard about issues affecting the men and women working in our sector.

Kimray CEO Thomas Hill led a tour of the company’s manufacturing and assembly operations, which offered Bice a chance to learn how the energy workforce is constantly developing and innovating products to power the economy. The tour highlighted how the industry has changed over decades, and how companies have adapted and evolved to become more efficient and advanced.

Bice saw the emphasis on environmental stewardship, and how the company innovated its operations to improve environmental performance and leverage opportunities to recycle materials. The tour also highlighted the value of workforce development programs to support continuing education and leadership development.

Bice said she’s interested to learn more about the sector’s recovery from the economic downturn caused by COVID-19. She said she’s encouraged that demand for Member products continues to rise. She was impressed with the innovative and creative ways supply chain and raw material shortages were mitigated as companies kept pace with increased demand as recovery continues.

During the townhall portion of the event, Bice explained her role in DC and how she was fighting for the energy services sector. Bice emphasized the need to re-shore industries that moved overseas. She said robust manufacturing infrastructure had enormous value to the U.S. economy and national security.

Bice detailed her realistic approach to energy transition. She said reducing carbon emissions did not have to come at the expense of job creation and development of a strong economy.  She promised to continue supporting the energy services sector and to represent the industry in Washington, D.C.
